Using Quick Search

Contents

One of the primary functions of a font manager is helping you find the fonts you need quickly and easily. FontAgent provides two search facilities for finding fonts in your FontAgent catalog: Quick Search and Smart Search.

Quick Search provides a Google-like experience. You simply type into the Search field (in the upper-right of the FontAgent window) what you’re looking for and FontAgent lists all fonts with a matching name, foundry, copyright, style, tag, comment, metric or other metadata value.

To perform a Quick Search, use the Search field that appears at the upper-right of the top pane.

Enter a keyword into the Search field. As you enter characters, FontAgent automatically searches font metadata that matches the characters you have entered. As you type, the List or Table View appearing below the Search field displays the fonts that match your string.

Your search applies to the current selection in the Left Column. To search in specific sets, select them in the Left Column before you start.

FontAgent searches the following font characteristics for matching fonts.

    Font Descriptors

    • Font names
    • Foundry names
    • Copyrights
    • Trademarks
    • Ratings (1 to 5 stars)
    • Descriptions (made by font creator)
    • Font Type
    • Tags
    • Comments
    • Font Activation

    Font Metrics

    • Font slant
    • Font proportion
    • Font weight
    • Font foundry codes

    Interpreting Search Results

The search bar is highlighted in yellow in the screenshot below, which displays results in the Tiles View. The bar displays the number of fonts that match the current search string and allows you to enter new strings and control the size of the results.

To use the Smart Search facility to specify multiple search criteria, click the magnifying glass in the Search field or the binoculars in the Toolbar.
