{"id":82,"date":"2025-11-28T17:39:26","date_gmt":"2025-11-29T00:39:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/insiderdocs.wpenginepowered.com\/?page_id=82"},"modified":"2026-02-05T17:19:21","modified_gmt":"2026-02-06T00:19:21","slug":"importing-fonts","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/famac.docs.insidersoftware.com\/?ht_kb=importing-fonts","title":{"rendered":"Importing Fonts"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>When you add fonts to your FontAgent\u00ae database, it verifies the integrity of the fonts and organizes them in a centralized database\u2014so you can search, view, manage and select the fonts easily and reliably.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Happens When You Import Fonts<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When you import fonts, FontAgent automatically:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Finds all fonts in the specified folders and subfolders<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Verifies that the fonts comply with industry <a href=\"https:\/\/famac.docs.insidersoftware.com\/?ht_kb=about-mac-fonts\" data-type=\"ht_kb\" data-id=\"77\">font-file standards<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identifies <a href=\"https:\/\/famac.docs.insidersoftware.com\/?ht_kb=managing-duplicate-fonts\" data-type=\"ht_kb\" data-id=\"102\">duplicate fonts<\/a> and imports only unique ones<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Adds usable fonts to your database<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enters font metadata into the FontAgent database<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provides a results log of the import process<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Updates your <a href=\"https:\/\/famac.docs.insidersoftware.com\/?ht_kb=using-import-history-sets\" data-type=\"ht_kb\" data-id=\"89\">import history<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ways to Import Fonts<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You can import fonts into FontAgent in multiple ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Drag and drop a font or a folder into the FontAgent application window.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the + button in the top-left <a href=\"https:\/\/famac.docs.insidersoftware.com\/?ht_kb=using-the-fontagent-toolbar\" data-type=\"ht_kb\" data-id=\"74\">Toolbar<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the <em>File &gt; Import Fonts<\/em> menu command.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Type <em>Command+O<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>When you don&#8217;t use drag-and-drop to import fonts, FontAgent displays a dialog box so you can choose a file or folder to import.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"718\" height=\"432\" src=\"https:\/\/famac.docs.insidersoftware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Add_Fonts.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-127\" style=\"width:695px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/famac.docs.insidersoftware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Add_Fonts.png 718w, https:\/\/famac.docs.insidersoftware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Add_Fonts-300x181.png 300w, https:\/\/famac.docs.insidersoftware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Add_Fonts-50x30.png 50w, https:\/\/famac.docs.insidersoftware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Add_Fonts-60x36.png 60w, https:\/\/famac.docs.insidersoftware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Add_Fonts-100x60.png 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 718px) 100vw, 718px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:6px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Importing Fonts into a New Set<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To import fonts into a new set, either:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use the <em>File &gt; Import Fonts<\/em> menu command <em>(Command+O)<\/em> to select a folder or font files to import.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Drag the fonts from your Mac desktop into an empty part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/famac.docs.insidersoftware.com\/?ht_kb=using-the-sets-sidebar\" data-type=\"ht_kb\" data-id=\"85\">Sets Sidebar<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Importing Adobe Fonts and Subscription Fonts<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>FontAgent automatically sees fonts activated by Adobe Fonts and other font subscription services that store their fonts in well-known locations in the Mac file system. So there is no need to import Adobe Fonts into FontAgent.
